Kundalini Yoga

DON’T Google What is Kundalini Yoga. You will go down a rabbit hole that may not give you all the right info. As with most things, Kundalini Yoga can be a most transformative practice but it can and should be approached with caution and skepticism. Sound like fun? Well, it actually is. It is one of the most powerfully transformative practices in the realm of Yoga.

I approach the practices of Kundalini in two ways. The exercises in Kundalini are called Kriyas - Pronounced “kree-yas.” I use individual kriyas and kriya sets (groups of kriya exercises) for therapeutic purposes. Sometimes the energy that these exercises give can’t be matched with any other yoga pose or exercise. It is an awesome way to transform some of the “stuck” energy in our bodies.

When I teach Kundalini in group classes I love to bring about a sense of play AND discomfort. There is nothing better in my toolbox that gets us out of our comfort zones and engage the freedom that only children do naturally.

When a new person takes my kundalini yoga class I get one of two responses. The first is, “I Loved It! I’m coming every week!” I never see them again. LOL. The second responses is, “I hated it, I felt awkward and uncomfortable.” I always see those people back in class.

The practices of kundalini involve very mindful and powerful breath that matches different and sometimes awkward movements. These change the stuck patterns in our mind and body and help to engage in generating our neuro-plasticity abilities - you know what they are? Teach old dogs new tricks. And that is what many of us need.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
